Patna, June 17: The BJP today vowed to fight the Nitish Kumar-led Grand Alliance government tooth and nail during the upcoming monsoon session of the legislature - that begins from July 29 - over the law and order situation in the state.

The decision was taken on the concluding day of the two-day state executive meeting of the BJP here, attended by Bihar BJP in-charge Bhupendra Yadav.

"It has been unanimously decided at the meeting that our MLAs and MLCs will take on the present government led by Nitish over the rising crime graph in the state," Bihar BJP president Mangal Pandey said. "The chief minister is roaming outside Bihar for a ban on liquor when he should have been working in the state to curb crime."

He alleged that the morale of the police has plummeted to new lows, and that the accused in high-profile criminal cases - such as MLA Rajballabh Yadav, MLC Manorama Devi, jailed gangster and former MP Mohammad Shahabuddin's associate Laddan Miyan and topper scam accused Bachcha Rai - were surrendering as per their will, instead of being arrested by the police.

"Just see how topper scam accused former chairman of Bihar State Education Board Lalkeshwar Prasad Singh and his wife, former JDU MLA Usha Sinha, are absconding after not being arrested when the scam broke out. They will also surrender in their own sweet time," Mangal added. About the two-day meet, the state BJP president said the party has decided to impart training to party workers, which will be completed by August 10. Organisational elections to district and state party units will be completed by September 30.
