Patna, July 8: The BJP in Bihar is busy strengthening its organisation, amid political upheavals following the CBI raid on Lalu Prasad and his family, telling workers to start preparing for the 2019 general election.

Ramlal, national general secretary (organisation), today played the teacher, giving tasks to his students (BJP functionaries and workers) during an interactive session at the party headquarters in Patna.

"Unless we get active at the booth level, we would not be able to reach out to the people at the grassroots," Ramlal, who is on a three-day visit to Bihar, said. "Our goal is to strengthen the party right up to the booth level."

Today was his second day in Bihar; yesterday he went to Muzaffarpur with Bihar BJP president Nityanand Rai and other office-bearers. He interacted with youths and told them the task of ensuring the party's victory in 2019 lay on their shoulders. Following this, he took part in a mass feast organised in a Dalit settlement.

The BJP general secretary, who has a RSS background where he worked as a pracharak, directed the party officials today to set up a "shakti kendra" in each panchayat in Bihar by September 25, galvanise booth-level committees and ensure that one meeting is held on the last Sunday of every month.

Bihar has 8,392 panchayats and 62,780 polling booths.

"These shakti kendras will function like coordination centres using which we would reach out to the people, and will keep an eye on booth-level committees, their functioning and the work done by them to enhance the party's penetration," said one of the BJP functionaries who attended the interactive session.

Ramlal, a leader from Uttar Pradesh, who is considered close to national president Amit Shah, is scheduled for an interactive session with the Bihar BJP MPs, MLAs and MLCs tomorrow.
