BJP leaders, almost a month after the BJP debacle in Assembly elections, on Sunday sat and discussed the party's future plan of action.
The meeting was held to discuss the BJP's upcoming organisational elections and reaching out to the cadres with the party ideology and principles. In the coming few months, the party is going to make major organisational revamp, including changes at the posts of president, vice-presidents, general secretaries and secretaries. With this, the party will first go with organisational elections at the block- and district-level, followed by changes in the top brass.
BJP national general secretary Muralidhar Rao and Bihar BJP in-charge Bhupender Yadav on Sunday conducted a training programme for office-bearers.
The office-bearer, after receiving training, will conduct similar training sessions at the block- and district-level for organisational elections. Senior state BJP leaders, including Sushil Kumar Modi and state BJP president Mangal Pandey, attended the training session. #Sources said the BJP was is in the mood of making organisational changes.
Starting with the Leader of Opposition's post, the BJP in November made Gaya Town six-time MLA Prem Kumar as Leader of Opposition, replacing senior party leader Nand Kishore Yadav. Prem's elevation to the party top post was seen as the BJP's aim to send out a message to the Extremely Backward Classes (EBC). Sources said with Prem Kumar's appointment, more EBC leaders would be accommodated in the party's organisation.
A senior BJP leader, who attended the training session, said: "There are various reasons for poor participation of workers at the booth-level, including wrong selection of candidates, failure to neutralise the effect of rebel candidates and others."
