US under secretary of state for political affairs Wendy Sherman (right), along with US Embassy chargé d’affaires A. Peter Burleigh, in Patna on Tuesday. The duo met chief minister Nitish Kumar and Governor Devanand Konwar. Later, the two guests from the US met various state government officials, leading entrepreneurs, socio-political analysts and NGO activists at hotel Maurya and discussed the trends of development and governance in Bihar and the challenges lying ahead. “Bihar is on the move. Its entrepreneurs, innovators and up-and-coming NGOs embody the spirit of Bihar. The state has emerged as an inspiring model of positive change and good governance. The Bihari society in general and the youth in particular appear eager to create new opportunities for economic growth and development,” said Sherman, who had earlier served as the vice-chair of Albright Stonebridge Group, a global strategy firm. Sherman has also been a member of the Investment Committee of Albright Capital Management, an affiliated investment advisory firm that focuses on emerging markets.
