Tender reply order
• Patna, Sept. 22: The high court division bench of Chief Justice Rajendra Menon and Justice A.K. Upadhyay on Friday directed the Bihar Medical Services and Infrastructure Corporation Ltd to reply within four weeks on a PIL alleging irregularities in allotting tenders for construction of medical colleges.
Petitioner Manibhushan Pratap Sengar has claimed tenders had been allotted to companies unqualified to build medical colleges.
Affiliation
• Patna: Bihar School Examination Board has cancelled the affiliation of five higher secondary schools in Vaishali, Gopalganj and Gaya districts for their failure to fulfil criteria laid down by the board. Affiliation to two higher secondary schools in Nawada district has been suspended.
Liquor
• Saharsa: Police seized over 5,000 bottles of Indian-made foreign liquor during a vehicle-check drive on Thursday night. Officers said a vehicle carrying the cartons was intercepted near Balthi village under Simri Bakhtiyarpur police station. Two persons have been detained for interrogation.
Factory work
• Patna: Rehabilitation work on the Barauni fertiliser factory has started, deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi said on Friday. The factory that had closed more than two decades ago is being revamped for Rs 6,500 crore following the Union government's decision last year to rehabilitate fertiliser factories in Gorakhpur (UP), Sindri (Jharkhand) and Barauni. Modi said officials of Hindustan Fertilizers and Chemicals Ltd met him on Friday and apprised him of the rehabilitation work.
Green shift
• Patna: Around 200 brick manufacturing unit owners have decided to shift to cleaner technology following a training camp held by the Bihar State Pollution Control Board on Friday.
Welfare
• Patna: Social welfare minister Manju Verma said the government will form a welfare board for the third sex. Chief minister Nitish Kumar will also start a campaign against dowry on October 2.

• Patna: BJP MP R.K. Sinha, promoter of India's largest security agency, announced an insurance cover for 2 lakh SIS employees on its 43rd establishment day.
CM order
• Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Friday directed Development Management Institute officials to ensure that the design of its permanent campus in Bihta provides proper environment for education and training of people from government, non-government and panchayati raj institutions.
