Elderly raped

Madhubani: A 75-year-old woman was brutally assaulted and subsequently raped by a youth in Madhubani's Rajnagar area lateon Saturdaynight. Later, the alleged rapist, identified as Baliram Mandal, was arrested with the help of residents. Rajnagar station house officer Satyendra Kumar Gupta said Mandal has confessed to his crime.

Maoist held

 Gaya: Jehanabad police on Sunday arrested eight criminals, including a Maoist. Jehanabad superintendent of police Aditya Kumar said Monarik Paswan alias Arjun Paswan was arrested from Kadauna area. Seven others arrested with him had a criminal background. The police recovered a licensed double-barrel gun, two country-made pistols, arifle, 11 live cartridges, four cellphones, nine SIM cards andnote book.

Sasaram: Armed criminals snatched a gold chain from a woman identified as Lal Muni Devi, a resident of Raj Putana at Dehri-on-Sone in Rohtas district, on Sunday. The police have detained a few suspects for interrogation in connection with the incident. A complaint was lodged with the Dehri-on-Sone police station on the statement of the victim. (RAMA)
