Rajendra bridge repair

Patna: The general manager of East Central Railway, Madhuresh Kumar, on Monday appeared before Patna High Court to respond to a PIL filed on the repair work of Rajendra Setu.

Railway sources said Madhuresh assured the bench of Justice V.N. Sinha and Justice P.K. Jha of all attempts being made to complete the work by its deadline of November 2015. Efforts were also being made to complete the work before the target.

Murder

Munger: A 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped and killed by some persons at Vanversa village on Sunday night. Kharagpur police recovered her body on Monday and have started investigations.

Trader killed

Gopalganj: Uham Mioyan, a tobacco trader, was murdered on Sunday night and his body recovered from a field at Dona Hata on Monday. His motorcycle and Rs 40,000 he was carrying are missing. An FIR has been lodged.

Patna: Additional district and sessions judge Danpal Singh on Monday sentenced Gangachak resident Krishna Singh to life imprisonment in a murder case. 

Condolence

Patna: Chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Monday mourned the death of former minister Vijay Kumar Singh. Singh died on Monday morning.

Patna: Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Nand Kishore Yadav on Monday criticised the JDU for opposing the Centre’s move to dismantle the Planning Commission. Yadav said the proposed changes would ensure quick decisions.
