Bail for Mokama MLA

Patna, Oct. 6: The high court today granted bail to Independent MLA from Mokama Anant Singh in a case involving the alleged intimidation of a lawyer at a lower court. The case was registered with Kotwali police station in Patna. Anant has been in jail since May in connection with this case.

The high court had on October 4 reserved its order in the case. The court held that as the MLA was not physically present at the place of the incident and since it was only an allegation of conspiracy, he deserved the privilege of bail.

Meeting

New Delhi (PTI): As part of a Prime Minister's Office initiative to orient newly inducted civil servants to state-specific issues, Union ministers from Bihar on Thursday met 2004-batch IAS officers of the Bihar cadre or who hail from the state.

Ghat recce

Patna: Divisional commissioner Anand Kishor and district magistrate Sanjay Kumar Agarwal inspected ghats on Thursday and gave instructions to officials concerned.

Order

Patna: A division bench of Patna High Court of Justice Navaniti Prasad Singh and Justice Nilu Agrawal on Thursday directed the state government to rectify all defunct tube-wells in the state by November 9. The order was passed on a petition filed by social activist Guddu Baba.

Fine

Patna: A high court division bench of Justices Hemant Gupta and A. Amanullah on Thursday imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on Rajiv Kumar, who had filed a PIL seeking demolition of Chanakya Square on Exhibition road in Patna, alleging the building was built violating Patna Municipal Corporation norms. The court imposed the fine as it considered the PIL was filed on baseless charges.
