Siwan: An eight-year-old resident of Harijan Tola, around 180km southwest of Patna, was allegedly raped by a driver on Wednesday night when the victim had gone to see a wedding party near her home. The driver, Ramu, a neighbour of the victim, was arrested late night after the girl’s mother lodged a complaint with Guthni police station.
The mother told the police that her daughter had gone out to see a wedding party around 8.30pm and returned home weeping at 10 in the night. The victim told her mother that Ramu, who had a mole on his face, overpowered her and raped her near the old and abandoned building of the Guthni police station. Station house officer of Guthni, Rajgrihi Rai said an FIR has been lodged in the case and the minor has been sent for a medical check-up. Ramu is in police custody.
Residents of the area, enraged over the incident, blocked Mehrauna road on Thursday morning demanding stringent action against the rapist.
