Bank loans to empower women

Muzaffarpur: Central Bank of India organised a camp at Bedaulliya village in Muzaffarpur on Sunday to distribute loans to women hailing from underprivileged background attached to fishery trade.

A media note said around Rs 30 lakh was distributed among 118 beneficiaries by district magistrate (DM) Anupam Kumar. The DM advised women to make proper investment of the money and return the loan to the bank within the given timeframe. The regional manager of the bank, S.K. Rai, said the loans were aimed at empowering underprivileged women.

Fest to save heritage

Darbhanga: The two-day Mithila fest got underway at Nagendra Jha Stadium on Lalit Narayan Mithila University premises on Sunday evening. The fest aims to preserve Mithila culture and heritage. Over 100 stalls have been set up for displaying mithila culture.

Honour

Patna: Super30 founder and mathematician Anand Kumar was felicitated at Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur, during its golden jubilee celebration. A media note on Sunday said the university vice-chancellor, I.V. Trivedi, felicitated Anand.

Party switch

Patna: Several leaders joined the JD(U) in a function organised at the party office on Sunday. Prominent among them were Rakesh Kumar alias Chunnu Thakur and LJP leader Anand Prakash.

RJD salvo

Patna: RJD leader Tejaswi on Sunday accused the BJP and the JD(U) of hatching a conspiracy owing to which Lalu Prasad had been jailed at a public meeting at Kaler in Arwal.

Blood donation

Patna: India Red Cross Society and Bihar State AIDS Control Society on Sunday organised a voluntary blood donation camp in which 25 people took part. Dr B.B. Sinha, the chairman of the Red Cross blood bank, said all healthy people should donate blood.
