Diktat to address traffic woes
Patna: Patna divisional commissioner ELSN Bala Prasad on Friday issued a slew of orders to streamline traffic in the city.
The divisional commissioner ordered autorickshaw associations to desist from overloading or playing raunchy songs in three- and six-wheelers. The auto drivers have also been asked to avoid modifying their vehicles to increase seating capacity.
Instructions were given to public transport operators to not stop vehicles in the middle of thoroughfares to pick up passengers.
The divisional commissioner also instructed the Patna district administration to remove encroachment from bus stands.
High court ruling
Patna: A division bench of the high court comprising Justice Navin Sinha and Justice Vikash Jain, finding a frivolous public interest litigation, filed by one Ravi Shanker Kumar Akela, refused to quash the J.P. Senani Samman Yojana. The yojana had been implemented by the state government for those who had undergone imprisonment under Maintenance of Internal Security Act and DIR under the leadership of Lok Nayak Jaiprakash Narayan.
PMC meet
Patna: Patna Municipal Corporation would hold the 15th general meeting of its board on January 27. The agenda for the meeting includes a proposal for a new sewage project for the city under National Ganga River Basin Authority (NGRBA) to be executed using an estimated outlay of Rs 2,580 crore.
Review dates
Patna: Patliputra Sahodaya School Complex, an association of CBSE-affiliated schools, on Friday issued revised dates for summative assessment II for classes IX and X for the 2013-14 session.
Electrocution
Gopalganj: Two students, Nidhi (6) and Pawan (7), suffered burn injuries when a live wire fell on them on Friday. They have been sent to sadar hospital.
BSNL plan
Chhapra: General manager of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Alok Kumar on Friday said the company introduced a new recharge plan for the Bihar and Jharkhand customers.

Patna: Managing director of Life Insurance Corporation Sushobhan Sarkar on Friday urged the personnel of the corporation to spread the insurance cover to wider sections of society. He was addressing a meeting of top performing agents of east central zone here.
Graft case
Patna: Vigilance Investigation Bureau on Friday submitted chargesheet in the special vigilance court against the former junior engineer of nagar panchayat (Sherghati), Shiv Shankar Yadav, in connection with a bribery case. Yadav was nabbed red-handed on November 26, 2013 while accepting Rs 28,000 as bribe.
