Accused in minor rape case grilled
Patna: Police brought Anita Devi, who allegedly handed over two minors to seven men, including Gaya deputy mayor Mohan Srivastava, to Patna on Thursday.
The police said she would be interrogated. Sources said the mobile of the Gaya deputy mayor was scanned. Several pornographic films and some multimedia messages have been found on the phone and are now being verified. The sources added that the police have also found contact numbers of influential people on the phone.
The minors had identified Anita Devi as the person who sent them to Patna.
Shootout arrest
Patna: Srikant Rai, the prime accused in the shootout inside Jurawanpur police station in Vaishali district in which station house officer Anil Kumar and a resident, Sudhir Kumar Singh, were killed on January 1, was arrested from Mahatma Gandhi Setu under the jurisdiction of Ganga Bridge police station on Thursday.
Vigilance FIR
Patna: A Muzaffarpur special vigilance court on Thursday ordered an FIR to be lodged against former Muzaffarpur district magistrate Anand Kishor and other officials in connection with financial irregularities in the distribution of solar lights to panchayats in 2010.
Rape report
Patna: Inspector-general (special branch) J.S. Gangwar, who was sent to Bengal to meet the relatives of the gangrape victim in Calcutta, submitted his report to the government on Wednesday.

Patna: A vigilance team on Thursday arrested Siwan civil surgeon Chandrasekhar Kumar on the charge of accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from an assistant.

Patna: The father of a Class VII student, allegedly kidnapped from his native village in Rohtas district on Sunday, submitted a petition to superintendent of police Vikas Barman on Thursday demanding his son’s release.

Patna: The government on Wednesday ordered a vigilance probe and initiated departmental proceedings against a retired IPS officer for alleged involvement in financial irregularities worth Rs 55 lakh when he was Arwal superintendent of police.
