Two dead in village firing
Buxar: Two persons were killed and seven others were injured on Thursday when some assailants fired upon them at Jogiya village in Buxar district.
The victims have been identified as Pradeep Kumar Yadav (22) and Niraj Kumar Yadav (14), the police said on Friday.
rahmpur police station in-charge Sarvesh Kumar Singh said: “The assailants raided the victims’ house at Jogiya village late on Thursday night and fired indiscriminately. Two persons died and seven others were injured. The attack was the fallout of an enmity between two rival groups of villagers.”
The bodies were handed over to the families after autopsy. An FIR has been lodged against 24 people of whom eight have been arrested, said Singh.
Grandmom points to feud
Bhagalpur: The maternal grandmother of Jiccho Paswan, the 12-year-old boy killed in Babarganj on Wednesday, has accused neighbour Chatthal Mandal of killing him to settle a long dispute. Jiccho’s grandmother Lakhsmi Devi said in June, Mandal had beaten up the boy after he had got into a confrontation with the neighbour’s children.

Chhapra: Legislative Council vice-chairman Salim Parvez has directed Jaiprakash University vice-chancellor Dwijendra Gupta to appear before a committee looking into alleged irregularities at the varsity on October 21. Parvez is heading the Legislative Council committee looking into alleged irregularities on the part of Gupta in the purchase of answer sheets worth Rs 4.5 crore.
Man stabbed
Siwan: Mukesh Mishra, a private school teacher, was stabbed to death by one Vijay Yadav at Guthni in Siwan district on Thursday night. At least five persons died in different incidents on Thursday. One Pankaj Kumar died when his bike collided with a truck at Guthni.

Munger: State Congress president Ashok Choudhary on Friday urged workers to visit remote places and educate people about the work being done by the party. He also asked the workers to expedite the ongoing membership drive.
Hospital check
Munger: The divisional commissioner of Munger, Sunil Kumar Singh, on Friday conducted an inspection of the sadar hospital.
Arms arrest
Munger: Two alleged arms smugglers Ashok Tanti and Pradeep Sharma were arrested on Friday. Police recovered two countrymade pistols and live cartridges from them.

Gaya: Akhauri Onkarnath, alias Mohan Shrivastava, was ousted from the post of Gaya’s deputy mayor on Friday.

Gaya: Magadh University vice-chancellor Mohammad Ishtiyaque, pro-vice-chancellor Kriteshwar Prasad and other officials conducted a cleanliness drive on the campus.
