Bhagalpur, March 14: The delay in declaring the results of 100 BEd students by Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University (TMBU) and the recent statement by the varsity’s vice-chancellor have snowballed into a major controversy.

Authorities of Vimal Bibuti College of Education (VBCE), under which the students appeared for the examination, have expressed concern over the attitude of Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University vice-chancellor K.N. Dubey for delaying the publication of the BEd result of the college for the session 2009-10.

Dubey, at a recent news meet, said: “The varsity had conducted the BEd examination for the session 2009-10 in October 10 last year as per the directive of the Patna High Court but the result is being withheld as VBCE does not have affiliation for the session 2009-10.”

“Some colleges were told to apply for affiliation. While Adwait Mission, Bounsi, Banka applied for affiliationVBCE did not initiate the process,” he added.

The college management is now alleging that Dubey is “damaging the careers of the students by delaying the permanent affiliation to the college”.

Deepak Kumar Sinha, manager of VBCE, alleged that the delay in publishing BEd results is creating unrest among the students of the college. “The statement made by the vice-chancellor is depressing and contemptuous of Patna High court’s order.”

Sinha alleged that the vice-chancellor’s statement was misleading. According to him, the bench of Justice Navin Sinha of Patna High Court on March 29, 2010, had directed the varsity to provide permanent affiliation to VBCE.

Sinha, on behalf of VBCE, had lodged a case in the high court in which the state, principal secretary, human resource development (HRD) department, director of higher education, director (administration)-cum joint secretary, human resource development department, vice-chancellor, TMBU and registrar, TMBU were made respondents.

Sinha said that the counsel for the varsity had admitted in Patna High Court that the university was obliged to consider the matter for permanent affiliation in accordance of law. Dubey and examination controller of the varsity, Madhusudan Jha, were not available for comment.

Sinha said: “The college management has started the contempt proceedings against the varsity for the sake of the students whose results are withheld.”
