Patna: A day after JDU boss Nitish Kumar's perceived jab at the RJD first family, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav taunted the chief minister for dealing with people like Ram Vilas Paswan whose entire family is in politics.

"Can Nitish ji say anything about Ram Vilas Paswan, a senior alliance partner in the NDA, as his brothers (Ram Chandra Paswan and Pashupati Kumar Paras) are MP and minister? Even Paswanji's son (Chirag Paswan) is an MP," Tejashwi said on Wednesday.

Without naming the leader of Opposition during the JDU's youth wing meeting on Tuesday, Nitish had said very few youths come to politics on their own strength, they rather come on the basis on their family background which was a disturbing trend.

Nitish had also taken a potshots at Tejashwi without naming him for his frequent attack on Twitter.

Tejashwi, however, kept up the social media heat on Nitish on Wednesday.

Attacking "chacha Nitish", he tweeted: "There should not be any inferiority complex if youth are getting into politics & growing while learning & toiling. Chacha has problem with tweets as he is unable to censor, scrutinize, edit & audit tweets as he does with press releases, reports & news in print & few local channels."

Dynasty politics is deep-rooted in Bihar, without a doubt, and there are several examples - across parties and castes - for it.

Dalit leader and former Union minister, late Jagjivan Ram's daughter is Meira Kumar - who later became Lok Sabha Speaker.

Former Bihar chief minister Bhagwat Jha Azad's son Kirti Azad played cricket and then turned politician. He is now the MP from Darbhanga. Another former chief minister Jagannath Mishra's son, Nitish Mishra has been minister in Nitish Kumar's cabinet.

Asked about former boss Nitish Kumar's statement on Tuesday, Nitish Mishra - now in the BJP - said: "I am a proud son of my father but I am not only a father's son. Individual intellects and capability also matters, unlike Tejashwi Prasad Yadav."

Rebel BJP leader Kirti Azad is of different opinion. He told The Telegraph: "I think Nitish ji is feeling threatened by the youngster coming into politics and if the acceptance is there where does family come in? They are getting duly elected and not sitting in the Upper House. They are being elected by the people. So there is an acceptance and if there is an acceptance, how can you stop anybody? If a doctor's son can be a doctor, if an engineer's son can be an engineer, why can't a politician's son be a politician?"

The JDU attacked Tejashwi for saying that Nitish should sign an affidavit that his son (Nishant) will never join politics. Spokesperson Sanjay Singh said: "Tejashwi should sign an affidavit that after marriage, or a person born in the RJD family will not enter politics. He should also declare that the present lot is the last generation to enter politics."
