Patna: RJD national vice-president Shivanand Tiwari on Monday trained his guns at JDU leader and Rajya Sabha member R.C.P. Singh for slamming rebel party leader Sharad Yadav.
Shivanand said the JDU does not have the right to talk about dignity and decorum after it insulted the mandate of the people of Bihar.
"I heard RCP imparting lessons on political dignity and decorum to veteran leader Sharad Yadav. People of Bihar don't need to take lessons on dignity from palturam (turncoat) Nitish Kumar. Cheating people's mandate was it political dignity? I feel like laughing on JDU leaders like Nitish and RCP," Shivanand said. On Sunday, RCP had slammed Sharad for announcing a parallel JDU. He even took digs at the rebel leader calling his act "ridiculous and a mockery of the Indian political system".
Shivanand said the Nitish's camp went against the mandate of the people of Bihar. "Sharad is at least standing by the mandate but Nitish has crossed the limit of political opportunism," the RJD leader said, adding that he has become a Bhajan Lal, the late Haryana chief minister who was infamous for switching sides. Shivanand accused the Nitish camp of being in a hurry to snatch the membership of Sharad from the Upper House as the party has approached Rajya Sabha chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu, who has given time to Sharad and Anwar to present their side on October 30.
"Any matter of disqualification first goes to the ethics committee. When I was the leader of the parliamentary party in Rajya Sabha the matter of Upendra Kushwaha's disqualification was first sent to the ethics committee. The JDU had sent the matter to the Rajya Sabha secretariat through Ali Anwar though I was the parliamentary leader. The Rajya Sabha secretariat sent back the letter to me seeking my permission. The matter was then sent to the ethics committee," Shivanand said.
"Nitish can go to any extreme in differentiating people. Sharad had helped both Nitish and Lalu but Nitish is a vindictive person," he said.
