BEAUTY WITH BRAINS: Supriya Aiman

Supriya Aiman, a 24-year-old girl from Patna, will represent India at the 55th Miss International 2015 in Tokyo.

Miss International is among the four biggest beauty pageants in the world. Last year’s winner, Valerie Hernandez of Puerto Rico, will crown her successor at the end of the event.

Mikitmoto, who is credited with the introduction of the pearl industry, will design this year’s winner’s crown.
Supriya, an aeronautical engineer, completed her graduation from the Indian Institute of Aeronautics, Patna, and has been a model for the past three years. A resident of Daldali area in Bakarganj, she is an alumni of Ravindra Balika Vidyalaya.

She won her first beauty pageant — Princess of Bihar — in 2012. Supriya was handpicked by Glamanand Super model India, the owner of Miss International’s Indian franchisee. She was groomed by The Tiara, a modelling studio at Pune.
Getting ramp-ready, the model was excited as expected, about her upcoming pageant.

“I am really excited about representing my country at an international platform. I am really thankful to my parents for being supportive throughout my career. They have always been there when I took any career-oriented decision,” she told The Telegraph.

Sharing her experience about the world of fashion and her ramp stories, she added: “People think it is really easy to become a model. Everyone needs to go through their share of ups and downs as they make it big. Be it an engineer, a teacher or a model, life is difficult for all. Being a model is not all about wearing makeup and high heels or being photogenic. It requires hard work and dedication. I got myself groomed, worked on my personality development — especially on my body language and vocabulary. I am really proud of where I am now.”

What gives her great pride is that she is self made, she said Supriya was one of the 23 finalists in Femina Miss India, Kolkata 2013.

She will be wearing a costume designed by Melvyn D’souza, who has designed many winning costumes for Miss India in recent years.

She is a strongly against child labour and wants to work for women empowerment — her dream, ever since her Miss India stint.

Appealing for her country’s support, Supriya, whose favourite actor is Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan, said: “I have grown up in the city with a diverse culture and progressive mindset. The people in Bihar have always supported me. I ask them to like my Facebook page, as this will also be counted when the winner is announced.”

The finale of the Miss International 2015 will take place at Shinawaga in Tokyo, at Prince Hotel Hiten Hall on November 5.
