The 1974 batches of St Xavier’s High School and St Michael’s High School at an alumni meet aboard the MV Ganga Vihar on Saturday. It was a moment of nostalgia as former students chatted among themselves. On why alumni from two different schools celebrated their 48th anniversary together, Yashvardhan Kumar Sinha, high commissioner of India to Sri Lanka and an alumnus of St Michael’s, said: “In 1971, the St Xavier’s management took over St Michael’s. The students were asked to choose between one.” Jagdeep Narayan Singh, additional chief secretary, Gujarat, an alumnus of St Xavier’s, said: “Childhood memories flashed back when we were walking through the lobbies. Nothing has changed. The classes are still the same.” The batch had also organised a dinner at Ghar Aangan in Pataliputra. Text by Shambhavi Singh, picture by Ranjeet Kumar Dey |
