Another kidnap case dogs Anant

Patna, June 29: Jailed Mokama MLA Anant Singh is in bigger trouble.

Patna police today said Anant was one among those accused in the kidnapping and murder case, which had taken place in Barh on June 17.

The MLA is lodged at Beur Central Jail on 14-day judicial custody in a kidnapping case in Bihta.Also, an Arms Act case was lodged against him on June 24 after four empty magazines of Insas rifle was found from his official residence in Patna.

Patna senior superintendent of police (SSP) Vikas Vaibhav today said: "Based on the evidence collected so far in connection with the case, the involvement of Anant Singh, who is an MLA from Mokama, has been ascertained." The officer, however, refused to divulge any details about the evidence that had implicated Singh in the criminal act.

"Based on the evidence collected by the police in the Barh case, which involved the kidnapping of four youths and the murder of one identified as Putus Yadav, the involvement of a total of 13 people, including Anant Singh, has been ascertained. In addition to this, the role of some other persons is also under the scanner and is being investigated. The production warrant for the formal production of Anant Singh in the Barh case will be prayed by the investigating officer before the Barh court concerned," the SSP said.

The incident occurred on June 17 when the Patna police received the information about the kidnapping of four youths in Barh. A rescue operation was initiated and three youths, who were beaten up badly, were recovered by the police the same evening while three suspects were nabbed.
