Phulwarisharif: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences-Patna is all set to restrict entry of patients' attendants to the indoor wing of the hospital after around a month.

The health hub is going to issue new attendant pass after a month through which only one attendant of any patient would be able to able to visit him/her at the hospital.

According to sources, the passes would not be required for attendants visiting the outpatient department. Rather it would be mandatory for those visiting the patients in the indoor wing of the hospital.

Sources said earlier also the attendant pass system was there in place at AIIMS-Patna but it was not strictly implemented because more than one attendant could enter the hospital showing the pass while many even used old issued passes to enter the hospital as no serial number was mentioned on it.

"The hospital administration is coming up with the new pass system in view of the security concerns because of the increase in number of patients and their attendants and also to ensure better care to the patients by saving them from unnecessary crowding on the hospital campus. We need to provide a peaceful and infection-free atmosphere to patients at the hospital for which we have to control the crowd," said a senior administrative official of AIIMS-Patna.

He added: "The new pass would mention particular serial number which would be maintained in register by the security guards. The guards will allow only one attendant through the attendant pass and they would check the serial number mentioned in the pass. Apart from attendant pass, we are also going to issue visitor pass. Only one visitor would be allowed to enter the indoor wing of the hospital if he/she shows the pass and they will be allowed entry only during the visiting hours."
