l Gaya: Residents on Tuesday attacked personnel of Dumaria police station and torched their vehicle in protest against the alleged thrashing of a villager by the police for being a Maoist supporter.

One Kesar Bhagat of Parchuan village under the jurisdiction of Dumaria police station was allegedly thrashed by CoBra jawans on Monday evening. Four security personnel have been injured in the attack. The residents blocked the Maigra-Imamganj Road, around 80km southwest of Gaya district headquarters, for nearly five hours from 1pm to 6pm. Gaya city superintendent of police Chandan Kushwaha confirmed the incident and said vigil is being maintained in the area to maintain law and order.

l Patna: Congress general secretary Shakeel Ahmed would reach the state on July 4 on a three-day visit. Party sources said Ahmed would take part in the party’s programmes at Samastipur, Darbhanga and Gaya and would return to Delhi on July 6.

l Patna: Senior BJP leaders would take part in the party meetings to be organised in different Assembly constituencies on Wednesday. Party sources said Sushil Kumar Modi would take part in one such programme to be held in Parbatta Assembly constituency of Khagaria and leader of Opposition in state Assembly Nand Kishore Yadav would take part in the programme to be held in Dinara constituency of Rohtas district.

l Patna: The tenth session of 15th state Assembly would commence on July 26 and would continue till August 2. Sources said on Tuesday supplementary budget for the 2013-14 fiscal year would be tabled on July 29.

l Patna: Director of Maharvir Vaatsalya Hospital Dr S.S. Jha was felicitated by the State Bank of India for his contribution to the society.

l Patna: Members of youth Congress staged a daylong hunger strike on Tuesday in support of its various demands. Addressing the participants, youth Congress state vice-president Kumar Ashish said the state government should take steps to address their issues.

l darbhanga: A 45-year-old man, Mohan Chaudhary, allegedly attacked her wife by pouring spirit in her eyes under the influence of alcohol on Tuesday evening at Sahasram village under the jurisdiction of Biroul police station.

l Patna: East Central Railway has decided to add one additional coach each to the AC 2 tier and sleeper class of Patna-Bangalore Sanghamitra Express (12296) from July 3 to handle the rush of passengers

l Patna: East Central Railway has decided to extend the services of New Delhi-Patna AC Superfast and Haridwar-Muzaffarpur till July 16 and New Delhi-Darbhanga till July 14.
