Smoke billows out of Capitol Towers in Patna on Friday. A fire broke out at Block-B of Capitol Towers on Frazer Road in the afternoon. The building was filled with smoke till the fourth floor after the fire broke out following an alleged short circuit on the ground floor. At least six fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the situation was brought under control within an hour. Police said the building did not have any fire-fighting mechanism. “The fire broke out around 3.15pm. The building has some residential flats as well as some offices. The police acted promptly. A number of people were stuck and the smoke made their escape more difficult,” deputy superintendent of police (Town) Ramakant Prasad said. The area from JP Roundabout to Frazer Road was cordoned off. No one was injured in the incident. Picture by Nagendra Kumar Singh |
