Patna University has relaxed norms after several students found it difficult to fill up the application forms online.
According to the rules, students had to register themselves and fill up application forms of both the university and the colleges.
However, many students, while applying for Patna University Common Entrance Test (PUCET), had filled up one of the two forms.
PUCET registration is done after one registers with the university. The candidate is allotted a registration number after which s/he can apply to other colleges.
Patna Science College teacher U.K. Sinha said: "The university administration has decided to entertain those candidates who had registered either at PUCET or applied directly on the college website."
Sources said candidates who had registered only with the university would have to procure their college admission forms from three colleges - Patna Women's College, Magadh Mahila College and Patna Science College.
While Patna Science college will provide admission forms to those who want to pursue science at the undergraduate level, for arts and commerce streams aspirants forms will be available at Patna Women's College and Magadh Mahila College respectively.
The registration forms have to be collected from the respective colleges before the entrance examination results are declared.
Students welcomed the move.
Aditya Mohan, a candidate who has applied for PUCET, said: "If the university administration considers our application, several candidates like me will get a chance to apply in colleges under the university." He wants to pursue a bachelor's in economics at Patna College or BN College.
The admission process, which ended last week, turned out to be a big failure. Only 15,929 applications were received this year against last year's figure of 30,000 when the process was offline.
Applicants also had to face slow server connectivity both on the Patna University website and those of a few colleges.
