Bollywood actor Yashpal Sharma on Sunday said the law and order condition has changed for the better in Bihar in the past decade.
Known for his roles in Shool, Lagaan, Gangaajal and Rowdy Rathore, Sharma was in the state capital to promote his latest film Chakradhaar.
Set in Benaras, Chakradhaar revolves around politics, crime and a youth’s fight against corruption. The film will release this Friday.
Sharma had first visited Bihar in 1999 for the filming of Shool with co-star Manoj Bajpai in Bettiah, West Champaran. “During a scene, Manoj needed to hold a desi tamancha (countrymade gun) and the director asked a spot boy to bring one. To our utter surprise, a man, who was watching the shooting, took out a desi tamancha and asked if it would work. We were shocked to see people blatantly carrying such firearms,” he said.
“The situation has undergone a sea change since then. I came to Bihar for the second time 15 days ago. I went to Purnea for shooting. This time, the experience was great. The present condition is different from what I had seen 13 years ago. The government has brought in a lot of changes,” he added.
Sharma further said there has been a lot of development in every sector. “The credit goes to chief minister Nitish Kumar, who has not only established law and order in the state but has also given opportunity to the people to live without fear,” he said.
