Muzaffarpur, Aug. 13: After spending the morning at his Bhagwanpur home in the Sadar police station area, murder accused JD(U) MLC Dinesh Prasad Singh drove down to an undisclosed destination in the western part of Muzaffarpur district this afternoon apprehending arrest.

The Telegraph reported in its edition today that the absconder MLC shared the dais with deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Saturday at a function at Mutlupur village under Sakra block of the district, around 90km north of the state capital. But Muzaffarpur police did not react and execute the non-bailable arrest warrant pending against Singh, the prime accused in the murder of Raju Sahni, a driver of Choudhary Hot Mixing Plant, in 2001.

Singh was sitting pretty at his Muzaffarpur home near Sadar police station this morning till the news spread about The Telegraph’s report. Then, he started changing his location apprehending arrest. Calls on his cellphone went unanswered.

Later, he switched it off. Senior superintendent of police Rajesh Kumar said his office had received an arrest warrant against Singh and he would act upon it at an opportune time. The court of judicial magistrate (first), Santosh Kumar, issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Singh on August 8 pertaining to the murder of Raju.

Former JD(U) state vice-president Harendra Kumar demanded immediate arrest of the MLC. Kumar said Singh brought bad name to the Nitish Kumar government and amassed huge wealth through corrupt practices.
