Six CPI(Maoist) rebels have been shifted to the terror cell of Khudiram Bose Memorial Central Jail on the directive of the home department.
Three rebels, including area commander Awadhesh Paswan, released on bail in November, have reportedly rejoined the rebels and are taking part in the outfit’s activities.
On learning of these developments, the six rebels at Khudiram Bose Memorial Central Jail were shifted to the terror cell and kept under surveillance. Jail superintendent Jitendra Kumar said security at the jail was beefed up on the police headquarters’ directive. Nobody wanted to go on record, but sources said there were fears the rebels on bail could try and break in to free their jailed comrades and others.
Night patrolling is on. Night vision glasses have been provided to those manning the jail entrance. Surprise vigils are on too.
