Reham Khan: Nothing to say

London, Jan. 5: Imran Khan has paid a 24-hour visit to London 'to see my children' but has had nothing more to say about the Pakistani television journalist, Reham Khan, whom he apparently intends to marry, according to some of his closest friends.

Since he tweeted, 'The reports of my marriage are greatly exaggerated!', Imran has given no clue as to what he intends to do next.

It could be that he is unsure of his next step, given the scale of opposition to a possible marriage to Reham, even from some members of his own family such as his sister Aleema.

One tabloid newspaper published a mobile phone photograph of Imran arriving at Heathrow, and suggested that ' 'newlywed' Imran (is) here to seek blessings of ex-Jemima'.

But that seems unlikely. It's not Jemima's understanding that he needs since she has been through relationships, now ended, with the actor, Hugh Grant, and the comedian, Russell Brand.

Imran divides his time between Lahore and Islamabad but he remains close to his sons, Sulaiman and Kasim, who are being brought up by their mother in London.

The boys are now 18 and 15 respectively. If Imran has come all the way from Pakistan just for 24 hours to talk to them, one can assume he wants to reassure them in some way about the frenzied speculation, especially in Pakistan, about his relationship with Reham. There are TV panel discussions taking place with his close friends, who probably don't want to let on that they don't have a clue as to what's going on.

'Always pleased to see her ex-husband Imran Khan, heiress Jemima Goldsmith was particularly keen to speak to the celebrated former cricketer this weekend,' the tabloid reported.

'Imran flew to London from his native Pakistan on Saturday to tell Jemima, the 40-year-old daughter of late billionaire James Goldsmith, and their two sons about the new love in his life, Reham Khan,' it went on.

There was a comment that Imran had made in Pakistan, but this was vague about his intentions regarding Reham: 'I want to say that I have publicly expressed my wish to remarry. However, marriage cannot be entered into lightly. Second marriages, especially, need to be considered carefully as children are involved.'

The report said: 'His romance is said to have met with opposition from some members of his family and has become a highly contentious topic in Pakistan, where he is a leading politician. Reham has already been subjected to insults after photos of her in 'revealing' clothes and a video of her dancing the tango were posted on the Internet in the conservative Islamic country.'

Meanwhile, 'Jemima, who has courted foppish actor Hugh Grant and tiresome 'comedian' Russell Brand since divorcing Imran ten years ago, has stirred emotions by publicly thanking Pakistanis who contacted her to say she will remain their favourite first lady. When Sara Khan told her on Twitter: 'No one can take your place!' Jemima replied: 'Ahh. That's lovely. Thank you x.''

Reham has turned out to be quite a spirited lady and is not taking the abuse quietly.

'Using bad language or resorting to cowardly attacks, hurling insinuations should be unacceptable & and should be silenced,' said one of her tweets.

Reham listed a number of accounts - @rehamkhanpti, @Rehamkhan1027, @rehamkhan007, @rehamkhan10, @rehamkhanx1 and @rehamkhan01 - as being fake.

'Do you realise that you could be prosecuted for this?' she said. 'The person using a fake account to do this is a criminal.'

She added: 'Please report any abusive Twitter accounts or Websites linked to me & my family. Publishing info of children is a criminal offence.'
