New York, Sept. 21 (Reuters): Federal prosecutors yesterday charged the Afghan-born man suspected of weekend bombings in New York and New Jersey with 10 counts including use of weapons of mass destruction.
The suspect, Ahmad Khan Rahami, bought bomb components on eBay, made a video of himself testing out homemade explosives, and kept a journal expressing outrage at the US "slaughter" of mujahideen in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and Palestine, federal officials allege.
Federal prosecutors from separate districts in New York and New Jersey charged him with four and six counts respectively.

Beirut (Reuters): Syrian rebels and pro-government forces battled each other on major frontlines near Aleppo and Hama, and air strikes reportedly killed a dozen people including four medical workers, as a ceasefire appeared to have completely unravelled.
Ankara scare
Ankara (Reuters): A man was shot and hurt by Turkish police outside the Israeli embassy in Ankara after he shouted slogans and wielded a knife on Wednesday, but initial inquiries indicated he had no links to an organised group, officials said.
Nepal arrest
Kathmandu (PTI): Two former Maoist guerrillas have been arrested by Nepali police in connection with planting and exploding bombs at a number of schools here. The police identified the suspects as Shankar Lakhe, 31, of Ramechhap and Chandra Bahadur Tamang, 24,of Sindhuli.
