London: Meghan Markle's first husband, Trevor Engelson, a 41-year-old film producer in Los Angeles, is said to be making a movie about an American divorcee who falls in love with a British prince, it was reported today.

"It is a fictional project," The Sunday Times said tongue in cheek. "Whether Engelson intends to do the next kiss-and-tell remains to be seen," the paper reported.

When it comes to chasing kiss-and-tells, British newspapers have deep pockets and know from long experience that almost everyone has a price. The tabloids know the story is a God send for circulation.

Engelson "is reported to be working on a pilot episode for a proposed television series involving an American divorcee who falls for a British prince".

According to the paper, Meghan's one time best friend, Ninaki Priddy, who was maid of honour at her romantic wedding to Engelson on a Jamaica beach in September 2011, has been paid £110,000 by one tabloid for her recollections of Prince Harry's new fiancée.

Judging by the photographs Ninaki has provided, dating back to their childhood days and spanning a period of over 30 years, the two probably were "like sisters".

One photograph shows them on holiday in London in 1996 when as 15-year-olds they posed in front of Buckingham Palace. Their friendship ended, Ninanki says, because of the callous manner in which Meghan ended her marriage to Engelson in 2013. Meghan was also apparently quick to start dating a Toronto celebrity chef Cory Vitiello.

"The way she handled it, Trevor definitely had the rug pulled out from under him," alleges Ninaki, now a designer in LA. "He was hurt." "All I can say now is that I think Meghan was calculated in the way she handled people and relationships," Ninaki's very bitter account goes on.

"She is very strategic in the way she cultivates circles of friends. Once she decides you're not part of her life, she can be very cold." Before her wedding, Meghan would apparently tell Ninaki "she couldn't imagine a life without Trevor. She said if anything were to happen to him she wouldn't be able to go on."

Engelson was based in LA, his wife was shooting the legal TV drama Suits in Toronto. But "there's Meghan Before Fame and Meghan After Fame. After three seasons of Suits, she called me to say the marriage was over".
