Now, Debashree Roy has slipped into the role, under the direction of Santimoy Bandopadhyay. “Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay holds a special place in the hearts of Bengali women. Unfortunately, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas distorted the classic for commercial purposes. I hope this film revives the tradition of Bengali cinema drawn from our literature,” says Debashree.
