(Top) A Durga idol crafted at Abhijatri Club in Balurghat with similarities to Lord Balaji's idol at Tirupati's Sri Venkateswara temple. The Durga idol was made by Rinku Pal of Krishnagar in Nadia and it was brought to the pandal by truck; (above) a pandal modelled on the Tirupati temple in Murshidabad town. It was erected by the Ayeshbagh Durga Puja committee on a five-bigha plot. The budget of the puja is Rs 1 crore, raised through donations and subscriptions.
