Concern India Foundation presents Art For Concern, the annual art show of Indian paintings in the affordable category. With an impressive list of participating artists, each painting is a collectors’ item. Participants: T Vaikuntam, A.V. Ilango, Jogen Chowdhury, Suhas Roy, Jayasri Burman, Sanjay Bhattacharya, Jahangir Jani, Jiten Hazarika, Ashok Bhowmik, Shekhar Roy, Ashok Mullick, Subroto Gangopadhyay (a painting by him appears here), Prakash Karmakar, T.M. Azis, Laxman Aley, Ramananda Bandopadhyay, P.N. Kurlekar, J.M.S. Mani, Atin Basak, Wasim Kapoor, Datta Bansode , Dhiraj Choudhury, Sanat Kar, Babu Xavier, Bratin Khan, Sunil Das and others. Proceeds of the show will go to support the Foundation’s education, health and community development projects in rural and urban India.

September 14 & 15 at GD Birla Sabhagar; 6pm: The Dover Lane Music Conference presents a festival of classical dance. Today: Argha Chatterjee (Odissi), Bimbavati Devi & group (Manipuri), Shomila Bhattacharya (Kathak), and Dona Ganguly & group (Odissi). September 15 at Rabindra Okakura Bhavan; 6pm: Sarathi presents Hey Chiro Nutan, an evening of Tagore songs and poems. Participants: Aditi Gupta, Partha Mukhopadhyay, Medha Bandyopadhyay and others in songs and poetry-reading, and solo recital of poems by Joy Goswami, Ishita Das Adhikary, Antara Das and others. September 15 at Rabindranath Tagore Centre, ICCR; 6.15pm: Suroloke presents Abelaye Jodi Esechho, a collage of poems of Tagore and Joy Goswami. Participants: Prabuddha Raha and Apala Basu in songs, and Ashis Ghosh and Natasha Dasgupta in poems.
