Techie dead

A software professional working with Tata Consultancy Services in Sector V was found hanging in his room in Salt Lake’s AE block late on Saturday. Police suspect that Sagar Deep, 25, a resident of Ranchi who had been staying as a paying guest in Salt Lake for over two years, had committed suicide after breaking up with his girlfriend. No suicide note was found, but cops found a number of text messages and calls from women while going through his cellphone.

Train service

Services were disrupted in the Sealdah-Bongaon section for several hours on Sunday afternoon after a cyclist was run over by a truck between Duttapukur and Bira stations. Service resumed at 7.45pm.

Attack

Criminals allegedly fired and threw bombs at South Dum Dum Municipality chairperson Anjana Rakshit’s Baguiati house on Sunday. No one was injured. ources said Rakshit, the councillor of ward 27, had opposed the filling up of some ponds in the area. She was not home during the attack.
