Former England cricket captain Ted Dexter and his Calcutta-born wife Susan Longfield place a flower each on the grave of her grandfather, Francis Masterman Garnett, at the Mullickbazar Cemetery on Friday afternoon. “He’s looking very smart today,” Susan exclaimed on seeing the white marble tombstone standing out amidst the old, shrub-covered graves all around. “We are visiting my grandfather’s grave after a decade and I am very happy to see how well it has been maintained,” Susan added. She and her husband are celebrating the 50th year of their marriage in the city where her grandfather, an officer in the Royal Insurance Company, and father Tom Longfield worked and played cricket.
