Significant events in the Parthapratim Roy Burman abduction case.

July 25, 2001: Khadim's owner Parthapratim Roy Burman is abducted from CN Roy Road in Tiljala while he was on his way to his company's godown. Two-three men intercept his Tata Safari around 9.45am, drag him out and fire in the air before pushing him into a Maruti 800.

August 2: Roy Burman is released from a house in Phukhuria in Haroa, North 24-Parganas, about 45km from Calcutta, after his family reportedly paid a ransom of Rs 3.75 crore. After his release, Roy Burman gets on a rickshaw to reach Jessore Road, where he hires a cab and asks the driver to pay the rickshaw-puller. Back in Calcutta, he gets admitted to a nursing home. The Roy Burmans maintain they haven't paid any ransom.

January 22, 2002: Four constables and a private guard are killed in a shooting outside American Center. "I am Aftab Ansari, calling from Dubai," the gangster calls The Telegraph and claims responsibility for the attack.

February 9: Ansari is arrested in Dubai for the American Center attack. It later emerges he had also plotted the Roy Burman abduction. Aamir Reza Khan, later killed in an encounter in Gujarat, had provided logistics for the abduction and the shooting.

May 20, 2009: Additional district sessions judge Biswarup Bandyopadhyay sentences Aftab Ansari and four others to life imprisonment for the abduction. The four others are Happy Singh alias Harpreet Singh, Abdur Rahman Kunji, Yakub Ali and Shahabuddin Shaukat.

July 2011: The CID gets custody of Noor Rahman alias Alam from Mumbai. Noor, the CID said, had fired during the abduction.

November 30, 2017: Alipore court says the verdict on Noor and seven others will be delivered on December 8, 2017.
