The three-laned road at Baisakhi island headed from First Avenue into AG Block is no longer free for both-way travel. Now only the lane headed to the Kestopur Canal at the extreme left is meant for entry into the block. The other two are meant for exit. “People used the middle lane to reach the AMP Vaisaakkhi mall. That will not be allowed anymore. A traffic signal has also been installed there,” said a senior traffic police official. The first cut-out in the divider has been blocked to make vehicles go further in and take a U-turn and exit through the Baisakhi market using the lane at the extreme right. Green police constables posted at the cutout said drivers were largely complying with the new rule except for some residents of the Central Public Works Department old campus which has its gate on the in-bound lane.
