Siliguri, Jan. 29: North Bengal University (NBU) will introduce a certificate course in museology from the next academic session to make the students aware of the rich cultural heritage of north Bengal.

The course is designed for students interested in museums and their upkeep.

Although modalities of the new course are yet to be chalked out, university sources said the course had been a “long-standing demand” of teachers and a section of the students.

The certificate course would go a long way in acquainting students with the history and ethnic culture of north Bengal and its relevance to museology, the sources added.

The move is part of an overall initiative on the part of the university authorities to introduce academic courses geared specifically to meet market demands.
