A leopard was caged in Alipurduar district on Tuesday night.

Foresters said the animal was trapped in Karaibari under Jateswar of Falakata block, near Dalgaonbusty, where on Sunday a leopard injured three kids while they were playing in the courtyard of their house.

The mother of the two boys had fearlessly chased away the animal. The three boys, all minors, are still in hospital.

Foresters have shifted the adult female leopard to the Jaldapara National Park.

“We are yet to check if the animal is in good health. If healthy, it will be released into the wild. If not, it will go to the rehabilitation centre in South Khayerbari,” said a forester.
