Siliguri, Oct. 27: Rediscovery: that is how film director Rituparno Ghosh described his recce of the Dooars forests, where next month he will shoot for Khela.

With this film, he intends to break away from the genre of films he is known for.

Unlike his earlier ventures, Khela will not be just about interplay of emotions. It is set to be an ?emotional thriller?, involving a film director (Prasenjit) and a child actor.

?It is a pure and innocent film, a simple human interaction dealing with basic human truths,? said Ghosh, who returned here after a three-day search of possible locations in Chapramari, Lataguri, Gorumara and Lava. ?It will be quite a break away from my genre of films, which have interpersonal relations and psychological complexities at the core.?

After Titli, ? starring Aparna Sen, her daughter Konkona and Mithun Chakraborty ? which was shot in the area, the plains and hills of north Bengal came as an obvious choice for the filmmaker.

Ghosh is known for limiting his film space mostly within the three walls of the sets. The director, who recently received the national award for his Aishwarya Rai-Ajay Devgan-starrer Raincoat, said: ?Khela is my second film that needs outdoor shots. With its ever-changing landscape that goes well with my story where the characters are always on the move, north Bengal came as an obvious choice.?

With this film, Manisha Koirala will make a foray into Bengali films, a growing trend among Hindi film actors that is being fuelled by directors like Ghosh, for whom working with ?national? artistes is aimed at freeing cinema from its regional captivity.

Describing the new film, also starring Raima Sen, he said: ?With Khela, I want to make a film in which, nature will be a part of its expression.?

Prasenjit, pairing with the director for the fifth time, said: ?I have always felt great working with Rituda.?
