Former justice of Calcutta High Court Mukul Gopal Mukherjee died of cardiac arrest at a city hospital on Saturday night. Mukherjee was 68 and is survived by his wife and two sons.

He was admitted to the hospital on February 25 with acute pneumonia and diabetes and was put on ventilation. Mukherjee, who retired as chairman of West Bengal Human Rights Commission, was also a cricket umpire and had been on the national panel of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
