After serving residents of Salt Lake since 2000, ILS Hospitals opened another edition in neighbouring Dum Dum on Tuesday. The 120-bedded centrally air-conditioned multi-speciality hospital, providing tertiary level clinical care, is the first of its kind in the neighbourhood.
“We wanted to bring multispeciality healthcare to a less served area,” said Dr Om Tantia, managing director, ILS Hospitals.
The hospital, which has come up at an investment of Rs 60 crore, is located on Jessore Road beside the Nagerbazar flyover in Kazipara. It offers 14 surgical facilities, backed by infrastructure including four operation theatres and an emergency operation theatre, and a range of diagnostic facilities like MRI, CT Scan, USG, echocardiography, TMT, endoscopy, pathology, X-ray, histopathology PFT, holter monitor and mammography. There is an out-patient department as well. “Our 128-slice CT Scanner is a state-of-the-art equipment that can scan the whole body in a few seconds and provide incredibly sharp 3D images of any organ,” said Tantia. “We have even acquired Thunderbeat (a multi-versatile operating instrument designed to perform the complete procedure in advanced surgery) which helps perform operations with zero bloodloss,” he adds.

The hospital also has two speciality clinics — bariatric (weight-loss) and diabetic. There are dedicated critical care units including a Level 3 neo-natal (capable of caring for premature babies) and a paediatric intensive care unit. Dialysis is also done here for Rs 1,800.

“Our ambulance service would be free over a radius of 5km. We are offering privilege cards for senior citizens which allows them 15 per cent discount on out-patient department charges and 10 per cent on check-ups. We may collect blood samples from a patient’s doorstep,” he announced.
The hospital has treated close to 1,000 patients even before the formal launch. Among them is Chandan Banerjee of Dumdum, who had been admitted with urine infection. “I came to their outpatient department and liked the personal attention. So I opted to be admitted here rather than travel to any of the Bypass hospitals,” said the senior citizen while being wheeled for a set of tests the day before his release.
