Cooch Behar, July 10: Indira Gandhi Open University (IGNOU) will soon hold classes at Lal bahadur Shastri Vidyapith in Bhetaguri under the Dinhata subdivision here.

The headmaster of the higher secondary school, Majibur Rehman, said forms for admission to bachelor’s degree courses would be available till July 31.

“We are offering courses in English, Hindi, history, political science, public administration, sociology, commerce and tourism,” Rehman said.

He said a 14-member faculty had been set up to cover all the subjects. “The centre will help to fill the void in teaching facilities in this part of the district,” he said. “With existing colleges filled to capacity, the university would be a boon to students of the area.”
