Calcutta, March 25: The government today shuffled several senior IAS officers.
Power secretary Kalyan Bagchi, who was locked in a tussle with the Citu, was moved to the important post of health secretary. Bagchi, it is learnt was shifted following a request from him.
Asim Barman, the health secretary, has been posted as secretary of public health engineering.
PHE secretary Sumantra Chowdhury has been made the transport secretary as incumbent H.P. Roy is scheduled to retire by the end of this month.
Prasad Ranjan Roy, the land reforms commissioner, will be the new power secretary. Rajpal Singh Kahlon, the labour commissioner, will join as the new fisheries secretary, pushing incumbent A.K. Patnaik to the forest and environment department.
Bijon Kundu, joint secretary of the planning board, will be the labour commissioner.
Ram Sevak Bandopadhyay, the backward classes welfare secretary, will be the new water investigation and development secretary. Sports secretary Subhendu Mondol will join as backward classes welfare secretary and Bikash Majumdar, special secretary of finance, has been given revenue.
The other changes include posting of Rina Venkataraman, agriculture marketing special secretary, as the sports secretary.
