Uttam Chakraborty, 54, of Ranaghat, Md Mukhtar, 50, of Jagaddal and Md Ismail, 25, of Murshidabad, were shifted to a general ward on Wednesday along with Swapan.

Hospital sources said the first three would be discharged soon.

Raja Das, the goon with whom the gang of robbers had got into a scuffle on the train, remained in intensive care along with Nandkumari Devi, whose collarbone was "splintered" in the blast.

Nandkumari's diabetic husband Sattu Mahato sat on a slab of concrete under a tree on the hospital premises, unwilling to leave although it was time for his scheduled dialysis in another hospital. "I can't go for dialysis with my wife in the ICU. My 10-year-old son is alone at home," the jute mill worker said.

Sattu has been asked to visit a diagnostic centre in Phoolbagan on Thursday to get a ticket for a CT Scan of his wife's injury. The facility is not available at BR Singh Hospital.
