Hilsa goes for Rs 22,000

A 4kg hilsa was auctioned at Howrah fish market on Friday on the occasion of Jamai Sashthi. Wholesaler Anwar Maqsood (right with the fish) started the bidding at Rs 2,500 and a fish trader from Dum Dum’s Nagerbazar picked it up for Rs 22,000 — that’s Rs 5,500 a kg.
