The city on Tuesday got four more police stations — Netaji Nagar, Panchasayar, Anandapur and Sarsuna. Netaji Nagar police station has been carved out of the jurisdiction of Patuli police station, Panchasayar out of Purba Jadavpur, Anandapur out of Tiljala and Sarsuna out of Thakurpukur police station. Police commissioner Surajit Kar Purkayastha inaugurated the four police stations on Tuesday. Calcutta now has 69 police stations. “The creation of the new police stations will help us intensify vigil in the areas added to the city police’s jurisdiction in 2011,” said Pallab Kanti Ghosh, joint commissioner of police, crime. “In the near future, we will split Haridevpur, Behala, Kasba and Jadavpur police stations,” said a senior officer at Lalbazar.
