Devotees at a night-long prayer at Christ the King Church at Park Circus on Friday. The session marked the beginning of a festival called Yesu Mahotsav. The formal inauguration at Don Bosco School Park Circus, on Saturday, was attended by the archbishop of Calcutta, Lucas Sirkar, the superior general of the Missionaries of Charity, Sister Prema, and the principal of Loreto Day School, Sealdah, Sister Cyril. The inauguration was followed by an-hour-and-a-half-long mass. The day’s attractions included a film festival and performances of Baul songs, Santhali dance and Bharatanatyam. An exhibition-cum-sale was organised by various self-help groups, featuring solar lights by Seva Kendra, spiritual books and jute handicraft by Sampurna, run by Loreto Day School, Sealdah.
