Digital classroom for impaired children

Digital Smart Class was introduced in the only residential school for deaf and dumb children run by department of social welfare here on Monday.

Raiganj: Digital Smart Class was introduced in the only residential school for deaf and dumb children run by department of social welfare here on Monday.

For the past two decades, sign language was used to teach the children.

The digital smart classroom has been inaugurated by Ayesha Rani A, the district magistrate of North Dinajpur.

According to administrative sources, Rs 20 lakh has been spent on the smart classroom at Suryoday, the only deaf and dumb school in the state.

The smart classroom has prepared the digital classroom. The funds were provided from the Border Area Development Project.

Jamshed, an expert from Kerala, came to the school to give a clear idea of the Smart classroom. He set different colourful pictures also inside the classroom. Audio-visual session was also held.

With the help of microphones and hearing aid, the student started learning alphabets and other basic lessons.

The DM said: " With the help of the digital smart class, students will be able to learn the lessons more easily and fast."

Koustav Dasgupta, the principal of the residential school, said" "We had demanded the digital smart class for the benefit of the students. Now we are happy that the students will learn lessons easily."
