Five injured

A private bus lost control on a potholed road in Howrah on Friday and rammed into an eatery, injuring five persons. Police claimed the steering of the bus had malfunctioned. Several witnesses, however, blamed the poor condition of the road for the accident, which took place around 6.45pm at the foot of the Golabari HIT bridge on Salkia School Road. None of the injuries in Friday's accident is life threatening, the police said.

Crime meeting

Calcutta police commissioner Rajeev Kumar asked all 69 police stations in the city to compile data on CCTV camera locations so that in case of an incident cops would have a ready reckoner. The top cop said this during the monthly crime conference on Friday.
