Aditya Vikram Sengupta's second film, Memories and My Mother, has been selected for the L'Atelier de la Cinéfondation programme at this year's Cannes Film Festival. The director's first, Asha Jaoar Majhe, was the most internationally feted Bengali film of our times.

"The Cinefondation's Atelier hosts its 12th edition this year and will invite to the Festival de Cannes 16 directors whose projects have been considered particularly promising. Together with their producers, they will be able to meet potential partners, a necessary step to finish their project and start the making of their film," said a note on their website.

In its pre-production stages, Memories and My Mother is going to be an Indo-French-German co-production. "Memories and My Mother is an expression of my innermost feelings and explores the constant conflict and tension between me and a rapidly changing Calcutta. Also, this is the first Bengali film to be picked for L'Atelier," Aditya said.

Cinematographer Fred Kelemen, who has shot films like Bela Tarr's The Turin Horse, will be the director of photography on this project. "I got Fred's email ID and wrote to him. Somehow we connected, became friends and started talking," Aditya said.
